2017 Trend Report: Not So Mellow Yellow
Posted on July 16 2017
The song Here Comes the Sun by Abbey Road is always the tune that gets stuck in my head when I put on a bright color like yellow. It’s empowering and shows confidence to wear and rock such a bright hue. Some people may think it is just a color for summer but we see it as a year round hue as long as you know how to intertwine it into that seasons wardrobe highlights.
Spring/Summer
The spring and summer are a time for having fun with bright color combinations and being bold and daring in your wardrobe choices. Designers like Paul Smith, Moschino, Hugo Boss and Armani have all rolled out the yellow Bermuda short into their children’s collections so you definitely want to pick up a pair from your favorite designer. Our favorite is the Paul Smith Junior bottoms because they feature a rolled up cuff with a cool outdoorsy pattern. Although they are bright they have a washed out effect to make the color a little subtler so it is easy to match with a variety of tops. On hot summer days when he’s heading to the beach they will go perfectly with Kenzo Paris ‘Dancing Cactus’ printed Tank or pair them with a light blue button down from Armani Junior when going to a more formal affair. Complete the look with a cool fedora like Lanvin’s faux straw hat or Hugo Boss yellow logo baseball cap with a similar subtle shade of yellow.
Girls are going all Fendi everything for this look; For this she will want to pick up and flaunt all of our fun accessories that feature this cheerful color. The Fendi girl’s straw hat is a lovely shade of ivory with a fun yellow ribbon that features the designers iconic ‘Bad Bug’ print that is immediately recognized and will be envied by all. The same adorable print in displayed on Fendi’s ‘Monster’ headband that gives a tied ribbon effect when worn. Coordinate either accessories with the ‘Monster’ Print yellow leggings and a simple top like the pink and purple floral t-shirt. Complete her look with a Fendi canvas handbag; the one we feature on our site is the classic beige Fendi pattern with a bright yellow trim and silver chain handle. She is going to feel fierce clutching her bag and rocking all her favorite accessories.
Fall/Winter
Once fall hits yellow seems to be less popular color but we are forecasting that this opinion is about to change. Start picking out his and her yellow fall favorites now and putting them away. Our favorites for her is the Canary yellow braided pants by Chloe matched with Karl Lagerfeld’s colorful tweed jacket. Roll up the pants cuffs for a cool autumn feel with a simple pair of black flats from Chloe or a fun pair of Fendi ‘Monster Eye’s sneakers. The deeper shade of canary yellow is so much fun to match with dark autumn purples or rich forest greens. Tuck them into a pair of black leather boots like Armanis Logo boot for fall/winter look.
