SS17 Trend Report: Add A Little Sparkle to Your Everyday Look

Always for my birthday I go hunting for an outfit to rock on the day that makes me feel a little more special then normal. About 99% of the time I get a top or dress that has sequins, glitter or metallic details so I can literally shine on the day. The problem is the piece usually heads to the back of my closet because it’s not usually in style to sport sequins on a daily basis. This past ss17 runway season Marc Jacobs covered his runway with tons and tons of these sparkly details on just about everything. From pants to dresses to shoes we saw these shiny details everywhere so I’m excited to announce that It’s now officially a trend to rock these pieces on the regular.

Metallic

From baby girl’s swimwear with metallic stars to chilly weather cardigans with gold stripes, Marc Jacobs has defined the metallic look this past SS17 runway show. We are absolutely crazy about the designers rose gold skater skirt that we would match with a simple top like Little Eleven Paris ‘Girl Gang’ t-shirt or Chloes light pink logo t-shirt to truly showcase its extravagance. Complete the look with Chloe’s metallic rose gold flats or multicolored metallic sandals that both match the skirt perfectly. Any girl will feel like a total rock star in whatever outfit combination she comes up with to match this super chic skirt. Other designers like Moschino and Armani have used the metallic look to showcase their logos across simple t-shirts to make them extra special.

Sequins

Once again Marc Jacobs has stolen our hearts this season with the amount of sequin details he has put on just about every type of silhouette. From his blue and red plaid button up with sequin bans around the elbows to his fun t-shirts, like the baby girl’s ‘movie panda’ top that has just the perfect amount of sequins to make her feel extra special on a normal day. Match either of these with a simple pair of bottoms like Junior Gaultier denim printed leggings for a baby girl and a fun denim skirt for older girls like Desquared2 distressed denim mini skirt. Add a little sparkle to her everyday look with an adorable sequin bag; Sonia Rykiel offers the perfect purse in green or pink to use all day and then switch to something a little fancier with Roberto Cavalli’s sequin shoulder bag in gold or silver.

The best tip we can give you to tackling this trend is with which ever direction you choose, make sure you don’t go overboard. If you wear a metallic top, pick a simplistic bottom because there is still that fine line between trend setter and disco ball when it comes to sequins. But don’t be afraid because adding these touches to your outfit will add an instant boost of confidence to a normal day.
